Concept

Everything is Femslash is an exchange focused on F/F romantic and/or sexual relationships where the characters are either canonly female or genderbent (cis and trans are both welcome). Matching is on fandom, relationship, fanwork medium and rating. Minimum for fic is 1000 words and minimum for art is a clean, finished lineart on unlined paper. There are no maximums.

All participants must be 18+ and have an AO3 account.


Nominations

You can nominate up to 10 fandoms with up to 10 relationships each.

Any ship configuration is allowed to be nominated, since in the end it will be F/F. For example, F/F is already F/F, M/NB will become F/F, M/M/F will become F/F/F and so on.

Original works are allowed and can be nominated in the shape of "Type of character A / Type of character B". For example, "Pizza delivery girl / Customer with no money", or "Trans Vampire / Cis Werewolf" will be assumed to be F/F. Please don't nominate disambiguated non-female genders, such as "Male Elf / Female Human" since that would be unnecessarily confusing.

Please nominate in the shape "A/B (Name of Fandom)". Example: instead of nominating the official tag "Nanjo Kojiro | Joe/Shindo Ainosuke | Adam", nominate it as "Nanjo Kojiro/Shindo Ainosuke (SK8 the Infinity)".

For canons that have an "All Media Types" fandom tag, both "All Media Types" and specific versions are accepted. However, if you request AMT, you cannot use the "Optional Details" section of the sign-up form to force your creator to use a specific version.

Crossovers and RPF will not be allowed at this time.


Sign-ups: Requests

You can make 1-10 requests. Each request should have 1 fandom, 1-10 relationships, 1-2 medium types (fic and/or art) and 1-2 additional tags (“sexual content” and/or “no sexual content”). You may repeat fandoms with different relationships / mediums / additional tags.

The minimum number of required fandoms is 1. However, you must request at minimum 3 unique fandoms to be guaranteed a gift. This means that if you are a pinch hit by the time of works reveals and you request less than 3 unique fandoms, reveals will not be delayed for you. If you are a pinch hit, you can contact the mod to add extra requests with fandoms/relationships from the tagset.

Note on "unique fandoms": The call for what counts as an unique fandom will only be made at pinch hit time to decide if reveals need to be delayed. In general, adaptations of the same thing will be considered the same fandom, unless there are big lore/setting changes. For example, "Les Misérables - Victor Hugo" and "Les Misérables (2012)" will count as the same fandom, but "Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle" and "Sherlock (TV)" will not because 19th century vs contemporary is a big setting change. "Original Works" counts as 1 fandom.

Please use the "Optional Details" section of the form to include your DNW and any likes, prompts, feelings about the ship/medium that you would like to convey to your creator. Keep in mind that your creator will try to create something that you like, but this is an exchange, not a commission.

Your DNW (Do Not Want) should be things that would ruin a gift for you and must be included in the sign-up form in order to be enforced. In this context, "enforced" means that if your gift includes any of your DNW, you will get a new one.

DNWs will not be enforced if they are in the following conditions:

• vague and judgemental (example: "gross kinks")
• box your creator into one thing (example: "stories that are not a high fantasy AU")
• unreasonable DNW (example: "dnw: ninjas" in a Naruto request)
• not in the sign-up form (example: DNWs that are only in the letter)
• contradictory to the request (example: "dnw: incest" in a siblings ship request)

Sign-ups: Offers

You can make 3-10 offers and must offer at least 3 unique fandoms.

Each offer should have 1 fandom, 1-10 relationships, 1-2 medium types (fic and/or art) and 1-2 additional tags (“sexual content” and/or “no sexual content”). You may repeat fandoms with different combinations of relationships / mediums / additional tags.


Matching

Matching is done on a combination of 1 fandom, 1 relationship, 1 medium and 1 additional tag.

"All Media Types" will match with "All Media Types" and specific versions will match with specific versions.

If you are unmatchable (that is, there is no one you can create for because no one requested anything that you offered), the mod will contact you via your ao3 e-mail so that you can adjust your offers. If you don't want to adjust them or don't reply within 24 hours, the sign-up will be deleted.


Assignments

Fic must be at least 1000 words and be a complete work on itself (must have a beginning, middle and end). It can be part of a series, but it should not require knowledge of any of the other parts and should only be linked to the series after creator reveals, in order to keep anonymity. Minimum for art is a clean, finished lineart on unlined paper. There are no maximums for either.

You can create for the request you matched on or for any of the other requests of the person you matched with, but keep in mind that may have different mediums/ratings/DNWs. For example, if you matched on Falin/Marcille fic and the person also requested Gimli/Legolas art, you can make the Gimli/Legolas art. You cannot, however, make Falin/Marcille art or Gimli/Legolas fic. The same applies for additional tags "sexual content" and "no sexual content".

Works must avoid the recipient's DNWs. If the request has an unenforceable DNW, please e-mail the mod so that we can resolve the problem early.

Works must posted in the category F/F since they must focus on one of the requested ships, which are by definition of the exchange already F/F. Background relationships of other types are fine unless otherwise specified in the request.

If you have questions for your recipient, you can e-mail the mod, who will forward the question to the participant and then get back to you, in order to keep anonymity. Do not contact the recipient about it, even if you are friends.


Defaulting

If you must default for any reason, you can hit the "default" button on the assignment so that a pinch hit may be requested. You don't have to explain yourself. However, if your creator also defaults, you won't be guaranteed a gift.

If you are a no-show at the deadline, that is, did not default and did not submit an assignment either by the time works are due, you'll be banned from next year's round.


Pinch Hits

Pinch hits will be posted to this dreamwidth community. The collection will not be revealed untill everyone who is entitled to a gift gets one (that is, everyone who posted their assignment on Ao3 and, if they're a PH, requested at least 3 unique fandoms).

If you are a PH as the deadline approaches, you can contact the mod to add extra requests with fandoms/relationships from the tagset. This is completely up to you, though, do not feel forced to ask for anything you don't want.


Treats

Treats do not have the same minimum requirements as assignments, but they should still abide by the same criteria that would be used to match on them and respect the DNW in the request, unless otherwise specified in the Optional Details of the request. If a request does not specify not wanting treats, you can assume that it is okay to make a treat for them.

Note: to be able to receive a treat, the option "Allow anyone to gift me works" should be enabled in Preferences > Collections, Challenges and Gifts. Depending on when your account was created this might be the default setting.

Question: are original characters and reader inserts allowed for nomination?

Hello!

You can nominate something like "Leia Organa/Original Female Character". However, this original character would be created by the person making the gift for you, it would not be your specific OC.

About reader insert, you could request "Leia Organa/Original Female Character" and then specify in the Optional Details section of the sign-up form that you enjoy reader insert / second person POV. This means that you might get your gift in that shape, but it's not a guarantee. As a mod, I will not enforce something along the lines of "DNW: stories that are not reader insert/2nd person POV", since it would fall in the "boxing your creator into one specific thing" type of DNW.

Question on requests and offers: is the set of relationships in each request/offer meant to be a set such that all listed relationships should feature in the requested/offered story, or such that at least one listed relationship should feature in the requested/offered story? I'm guessing the latter, but it seems worth double-checking before I submit.

Just one! :) In general, if there are multiple relationships grouped in the same request, the expectation is that you pick one of them to write about/be the focus of the story. (If the Optional Details section of the request suggests that they'd like multiple relationships in the same work, you are also free to do that, but it's certainly not mandatory).

Hi! DNW question. I don't want to see a major non femslash ship in a femslash exchange, so I'd like to DNW "Major non-F/F Relationships". Is this OK?

I'm fine with background non-F/F as long as it is actually in the background. Here's how I've worded the DNW and clarification in my rough draft.

DNW: Major non-F/F Relationships

F/M M/M Multi and Other relationships are fine, and I’d like for background relationships to be tagged. The tag “Background Naegi Makoto/Togami Byakuya” should mean that they are in the background, and not have the same focus as the requested ships. tl;dr: if the non-F/F ship is major enough where you’d tic the corresponding category, F/M etc, you’ve violated the DNW.

Please, let me know your thoughts and if I should strike this DNW entirely, reword it, or any suggestions! Thank you so much! ~

Hello! Your DNW for major non F/F relationships is actually covered by the rules of the exchange -> since this an exchange focused on F/F and your gift should focus on one of your requested ships, which is by definition F/F, the major relationship has to be F/F. So you don't need to DNW it. I'll add something to the rules to make this extra obvious.

About background relationships needing to be tagged that's also fine by me. Feel free to ask in the question channel of EAD if you want any suggestions on how to word that part. :)
